NHS Wales Experience Questionnaire

We would like to hear your thoughts on how your NHS service can be improved. The Welsh Government have designed a survey for us to collect your responses on your experiences from the NHS as a whole. This could be with us, at a hospital appointment or any other NHS service.

Please complete the survey online or ask at reception for a paper copy. Responses are anonymous.

Staff Changes

We have welcomed a new Receptionist, Andrea, to the team.

Marie Curie Visit

We are proud to announce that the staff and patients raised £156.24 during the last visit from Marie Curie which will help provide 7 nursing hours for Marie Curie patients. They will be with us again on Wednesday 15th January 2025, feel free to come along and speak with them if you are interested in what services they can offer or if you wish to donate or volunteer. They are grateful for all donations, no matter how small.

NHS Wales App

Patients can now book medication reviews with the Pharmacist through the app. These will all be telephone consultations throughout the course of your chosen day.

For those patients who are unable to use the app and still use My Health Online, you can also book these here. We are trialling the system, and if this works well we may introduce other services for booking this way so please let us know your thoughts!

Charity Support

Staff at Talybont are committed to help those in need. We raised £110 for Macmillan cake week, £52.87 for Children in Need and one of our staff members has collected hats, scarfs, jumpers, coats and anything warm for the homeless. A huge thank you to all the team!

Fit Jacks

Community Fit Jacks launched earlier this year but it is not too late to get involved. There are a range of dates and locations around Swansea to get signed up.

Fit Jacks is a free 12-week health and wellbeing programme which combines information about healthier choices with free weekly fitness sessions which cater to your fitness levels.

You can find more information online here.

Pre-bookable Appointments

For those that haven’t already heard, patients are able to pre-book their GP telephone consultation for a day that suits them best. The Receptionist will be able to put you on the list with the GP for your chosen day and they will give you a call during the course of that day, arranging a face to face consultation if required. Please note, these are currently filling up approximately a month in advance but we are looking to increase the number of pre-bookable telephone consultation slots.

Winter Season

Coughs and colds are much more common as the weather gets colder and wetter. Your local pharmacy will be able to do a sore throat swab and prescribe antibiotics if required. Most coughs and colds a viral so do not require antibiotics; there are plenty of over the counter medications to help soothe symptoms. We are here to help if your symptoms become more serious or you have had a cough for more than 3 weeks.

Review

All staff across the surgery work extremely hard to help you. If you have had a positive experience, then please leave us a review on Facebook or Google. We do also have a suggestions box in the waiting area where patients can leave anonymous feedback or suggestions on improvements for the surgery.

RSV

If you are pregnant or aged between 75 and 80 you are entitled to a free RSV vaccine. RSV is a common cause for coughs and colds, visit the NHS website for more information.

Healthy Habits

We know that addictions are extremely difficult to get on top of, but as a surgery we want to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Please follow the links if you would like any help with reducing your smoking or alcohol intake.
