Prescriptions

We are moving to electronic prescribing in June 2026

This means there will be no more paper prescriptions If your pharmacy does not have your medication in stock, or you are on holiday in England or Wales, your prescription can be easily sent to another pharmacy.

In Person

We can take your repeat prescription requests in the surgery.

You can drop off your repeat prescription form and pop it in the black post box in the surgery foyer at the main entrance to the surgery.

Outside of opening hours, please tick the items you require on your repeat slip and put it through the letterbox on the left side of the door.

Please do not put it through the Medihub dispensing machine as this will not get to us.

By Post

Prescriptions can be ordered by post.

If you wish for the prescription to be returned by post then please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope.

How to collect my prescription?

Please allow 3 full working days for your prescription to be ready.

All patients are required to nominate a local pharmacy to collect their prescription. This means you do not have to come to the surgery to collect the paper form and then take it to the pharmacy yourself, the pharmacy will already have this for you.

Please speak to your local pharmacy about how to sign up.

How to order acute medication?

(something that isn’t on your repeat)

If the medication is something you have had previously, please submit an admin request on Accurx, explaining what the medication is and why you need it. If you have never had the medication before or you are requesting it for a new problem, you will need to speak with a GP. Please submit a clinical request on Accurx between 8am and 9am

General Medical Needs

Tal-Y-Bont Surgery will provide for the general medical needs of people suffering from substance misuse. However, we will not provide any patient with a source of drugs that is not necessary for their treatment.

Therefore, if you are on any of the following medications, proof from your previous surgery is required:

  • Diazepam
  • Nitrazepam
  • Lorazepam
  • Temazepam
  • Dihydrocodeine
  • Zopiclone
  • Tramadol
  • Morphine Sulphate
  • Oramorph
  • Pregabalin
  • Gabapentin etc.

We as a Practice will also introduce a reducing regime where appropriate to patients who are on some of the above drugs. Any patient who has substance misuse problems will be offered a referral to an agent with expertise in this area.

Private prescriptions from private healthcare providers

As a practice, we understand that some patients may wish to opt for some or all their treatment to be conducted privately and support your right to this. However, to mitigate any misunderstanding we would like to take this opportunity to explain how the NHS and Tal-Y-Bont surgery work along private providers of health care.

What to expect if you chose to see a clinician privately
