Congratulations
We so proud of Caitlin, Ffion, Nazia and Jenny who have all passed their GPhC written examination to become qualified pharmacists. They have all worked extremely hard during their time with us and wish them all the best with their careers.
Our Pharmacist, Thomas Roberts, has also passed his Independent Prescribing course so will be able to sign prescription from November.
Our Advanced Prescribing Clerk, Kathy Helliwell, has also passed her BTEC Science and will begin her Pharmacy Technician training from September.
Staff Changes
We are thrilled to announce that we have two more Salaried GPs who have joined our team. Dr Adekemi Adejuwon and Dr Kasia Hozer both work two days with us and have settled in extremely well so far.
Marie Curie Visit
We are proud to announce that the staff and patients raised £52.08 during the last visit from Marie Curie which will help provide 5 nursing hours for Marie Curie patients. They will be with us again on Tuesday 15th October 2024, feel free to come along and speak with them if you are interested in what services they can offer or if you wish to donate or volunteer. They are grateful for all donations, no matter how small.
NHS Wales App
My Health Online is being replaced by the NHS Wales App. You do not need a form to register but you will need an NHS login which the app will help guide you through, just search NHS Wales App.
Children, carers and patients without photo ID are currently unable to register so should continue to use My Health Online. We are hoping that this will be developed in the near future.
Pre-bookable Appointments
For those that haven’t already heard, patients are able to pre-book their GP telephone consultation for a day that suits them best. The Receptionist will be able to put you on the list with the GP for your chosen day and they will give you a call during the course of that day, arranging a face to face consultation if required.
Please note, these are currently filling up approximately a week in advance but we are looking to increase the number of pre-bookable telephone consultation slots.
Fit Jacks
Community Fit Jacks launched earlier this year but it is not too late to get involved. There are a range of dates and locations around Swansea to get signed up.
Fit Jacks is a free 12-week health and wellbeing programme which combines information about healthier choices with free weekly fitness sessions which cater to your fitness levels.
You can find more information online here.
Summer Season
The hot weather has been on and off so far this season but fingers crossed summer isn’t over yet. Just a reminder to always wear sun cream, factor 50 if possible, and keep well hydrated. Patients who are going abroad for their summer holidays and may need vaccines are advised to book well in advance to ensure there are no delays.
Review
All staff across the surgery work extremely hard to help you. If you have had a positive experience, then please leave us a review on Facebook or Google. We do also have a suggestions box in the waiting area where patients can leave anonymous feedback or suggestions on improvements for the surgery.
Chair Exercise Classes
Nurse Sarah Payne is running chair based exercise classes from Chapel Hope-Siloh every Thursday 2-3pm. All ages and abilities are welcome and the class is £2.50 per person.
Please email sarah.fitness.bont@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Healthy Habits
We know that addictions are extremely difficult to get on top of, but as a surgery we want to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Please follow the links if you would like any help with reducing your smoking or alcohol intake.
